Trelleborg Offshore Boston, Inc. manufactures four different types of syntactic foams to meet the broad range of requirements of its customers.

(EL Grade) Epoxy syntactic foams for manned and unmanned submersibles with a wide range of densities and the ability to resist exposure to diesel fuels and hydraulic fluids.

(TG Grade) Lightweight and economical foams for manned and remote operating vehicles. Also used in mine neutralization systems because of their zero magnetic and sea water comparable acoustic signatures.

(DS Grade) These foams combine lightweight glass microballoons with multifunctional epoxy resin to produce an ultra-high strength-to-weight material for high performance, deep sea applications at ocean depths up to 20,000 feet.

(VF Grade) Epoxy foams that combine microballoons and macrospheres for ultra-light weight applications for the filling of control surfaces and structural voids on subsea and surface maritime vessels. The Grade A shock-qualified castable syntactic foams are sold as kits for on-site/field use.

  2. Microspheres
    NAICS: 326150,3364,44612,23621,325,21,5417,3366
Eccospheres® glass microspheres are hollow thin-walled glass microspheres composed of sodium borosilicate glass. To the naked eye they resemble a fine, white, free-flowing powder. However, magnification reveals them to be near perfect spheres.

Due to their exclusive glass chemistry and method of manufacture, Eccospheres® glass microspheres exhibit the following properties:

    High temperature resistance
    Good density/strength ratios
    Clean surface chemistry
    Narrow particle size distribution
    Low thermal conductivity
    Low dielectric constant
    Low dissipation factor

Eccospheres® glass microspheres help reduce costs, enhance properties and improve processability. We manufacture five distinct product series. All five series are produced from a high silica glass resulting in material integrity up to 800°C / 1,472°F. Eccospheres® glass microspheres exhibit excellent density/strength ratios - due to the removal of sinkers - and high packing factors. However, additional steps during manufacture have resulted in unique properties for each series.

SYNTAC® & ECCOLITE® ULTRA - NOW AVAILABLE FACTORY DIRECT - IN STOCK, READY TO SHIP. ORDER TODAY AND IT SHIPS TODAY.

Syntac® syntactic foam and Eccolite® Ultra plug assists are produced using high purity, hollow glass microballoons in a high-performance epoxy matrix. These products are favored by aerospace and military customers due to the stringent specifications that they can be manufactured to.

These foams are produced in machinable blocks, sheets and rods and are known for their outstanding consistency, low void content and easy, low-dust, high-speed milling. Our syntactic foam plug assist materials also benefit from technical support from a world class team of experts. The performance of these products meets or exceeds other Syntac® syntactic foam plug assist materials on the market.

  4. Blast Protection & Hybrid-Armor
    NAICS: 326150,325,21,5417,56162,3366,3364,492,42311,33612
Military in-theater conflicts result in costly affects to personnel. To date, the number one casualty inflicted on troops has been Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and soft tissue damage due to the lack of more effective, non-metallic, anti-blast, and anti-ballistic alternative protection solutions. TOB's Energy Absorbing Material (EAM) and Hybrid-Armor blast and ballistic composite solutions meet or exceed the required thresholds to prevent these injuries. Custom solutions can be designed for any application that is needed for protecting high value assets.

  5. Fire Protection
    NAICS: 3262, 326291, 33322,23621,423830,325,21,811,56162,
The protection of a maritime vessel's infrastructure is critical at sea. Maintaining structural integrity, fire main piping, electrical, communications, and fuel/water systems is paramount to safe operation of crew and equipment. High valued assets, like control panels within command and control centers, ships power stations, refueling platforms and transfer stations, and weapons systems require 100% availability and cannot afford to be interrupted. Advancements in elastomer and laminate rubber technology have proven to provide protection in these areas. Firestop™ technology is one of the newest and composite material solutions in use today for protecting deck, structures, piping, fluid, and electrical systems from fire, blast, impact, corrosion, and flooding.
